Dr Wilson Petrushnko is a General and Colorectal Surgeon based in Coffs Harbour. He fell in love with the Mid North Coast after spending time here during his training. Dr Petrushnko went on to complete further sub specialist training in Colorectal Surgery, spending time at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Tweed Valley Hospital and John Flynn Hospital.
Dr Petrushnko completed his postgraduate medical degree in 2013 from the University of Wollongong. He completed his internship and residency training at the Royal North Shore Hospital. Dr Petrushnko was awarded his Fellowship (FRACS) in General Surgery by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2021. His passion for health promotion, disease prevention and patient advocacy drove him to further complete a Masters of Public Health at the University of Sydney.
Dr Petrushnnko is a strong advocate for minimally invasive surgery and enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS), tailoring treatment plans to each individual patient. Dr Petrushnko is committed to training medical students and surgical registrars, as reflected by his receipt of the prestigious Excellence in Surgical Teaching Award by General Surgeons Australia in 2023. He also continues to remain active in research, authoring numerous publications and serving as a journal reviewer. Outside of work, Dr Petrushnko enjoys spending time with his wife and two young boys, fishing and gardening.
